Requesting Certificates & NZQA Record of Achievement (ROA)

08/12/2016

There has been a change with regard to the NZQA evidence that ServiceIQ receives and sights in order to issue secondary school students with a unit standard certificate. (e.g. 167, 17284, 17288).

Previously, all Secondary Schools have been able to use an ‘alternative’ NZQA record of learning called NZQA Entries to order certificates through ServiceIQ. This is because the NZQA keep Secondary school results in a holding state until they do a bulk upload of all NZQA unit standard results on to the students official NZQA Record of Achievement transcript at the end of the year or beginning of the following year.

We were under the assumption that if the students NZQA unit standards appear on the NZQA Entries submitted by the School that their NZQA unit standards would go through to their official NZQA Record of Achievement transcript however, it turns out that this has not been the case if the students do not pay their NZQA fees.

This causes compliance issues for ServiceIQ if the results haven’t successfully gone through to the student’s official transcript. As the issuing body, we need to ensure that this is happening.

As a result, we can no longer accept the NZQA Entries as a form of evidence to issue a certificate to a student. The unit standards must appear on their official NZQA Record of Achievement transcript which means that they will need to wait until 2017 to apply for a certificate as their 2016 results won’t appear on their transcript until next year.

A copy of the students NZQA Record of achievement that will be the only accepted form of evidence from now on and going forward. The students can print their own NZQA Record of achievement off the NZQA Framework should the School not wish to do this. They will need to create themselves a Learner Login on the NZQA framework if they do not have one already.

We will only be able to complete certificate orders on this side of the year if the school is applying for a certificate where the student completed their unit standard(s) in 2015.

What to submit in 2017:

  • Reporting forms – these are located at the back of the Students Workbook/Assessment
