Hospitality Training Trust announces award winners

09/10/2013

The Hospitality Training Trust (HTT), formed to promote training and excellence in hospitality through funding worthy projects, today announced the winners of the inaugural 2013 HTT grants in the latest funding round.

Chair of the Trust, Carol Stigley, said that Trustees were delighted to receive nine applications.

“It is the first time these grants have been publicly available and there was great variety in the proposals. Applications were received for funding in excess of the amount available for distribution. After careful consideration we have awarded grants to:

  • Manukau Institute of Technology, $15,000 for a series of Master Classes in four centres to upskill for Secondary School teachers and familiarise them with the Hospitality Vocational Pathway
  • New Zealand School of Food and Wine, $15,000 for a textbook to support unit standards learning in wine appreciation
  • Allergy New Zealand, $18,500 for an allergy awareness training video for use in hospitality businesses
  • New Zealand School of Food and Wine, $8,850 for a Holiday Programme for Auckland decile 1-5 schools in cookery and cafe service.

“Our congratulations to these winners and we hope to grow the amount available each year as the Trust builds its capital so that we can increase our support.”

Founded by the former Hospitality Standards Institute in 2011, the HTT will be calling for 2014 grant applications in April.
