ServiceIQ’s latest Skills Online course gives a practical introduction to being a responsible gaming host.
The brief course is designed to meet the problem gambling awareness requirements of both the gambling and the racing regulations. These require venues to ensure there is always a trained person available on the premises whenever gambling is available.
Venues that do not follow the rules risk letting down their guests, and also face fines for breaching the gambling rules.
The broad-ranging course covers the different host responsibility requirements for venues with pokies and TAB outlets, and gives practical advice on talking to people about their gambling activities.
It includes:
- gambling awareness
- minimising harm in gambling (including identifying problem gambling)
- approaching a problem gambler
- problem gambling services
- responsible hosting.
The online course includes video and printed support materials, and can be completed on computers and mobile devices. Anyone can study at any time that suits them and can go back and review any part of the course while they study. They must complete a detailed quiz to successfully finish the course and print their own certificate.
With a course fee of just $25, Being a Responsible Gambling Host is an excellent way to ensure staff have the knowledge they need to protect their careers, their employer, and their members and guests.
ServiceIQ Skills Online also offers courses in being a responsible host for alcohol, successfully resolving complaints, and preventing theft and fraud.
