ServiceIQ has new Christchurch home

The industry training organisation (ITO) for service sector industries is open for business in new premises in Christchurch. The ServiceIQ ground floor office at 107 Hereford Street is ideally placed near the heart of the city and on the edge of the soon-to-be revitalised Red Zone.

Officially opened on 16 October by ServiceIQ Board Chair Rick Christie and CEO Dean Minchington, the new office will be the centre for the ITO’s work helping upskill South Island people working in service industries.

ServiceIQ CEO Dean Minchington said he is delighted that the organisation has a new office in the centre of the city. “It’s great for our people to be able to settle in and concentrate even more on helping the businesses and organisations we work with to build skills and knowledge in their staff. Christchurch, Canterbury, and indeed the whole South Island, is important to all aspects of New Zealand’s service industry and especially the burgeoning travel and tourism with wine and food as much a focus as the spectacular scenery and unique adventure.”

Board Chair Rick Christie notes that a conservative estimate of the value of the ServiceIQ sectors is $27 billion of GDP and 20% of employment.

“ServiceIQ helps provide businesses with skilled employees, ready to capitalise on newly starting economic growth. Our industries are still in the midst of global economic setbacks, but reports show us that, in general, they are performing well in the wide context of the global economy. I believe it is in New Zealand’s service sector that we will find a large part of the answer to renewed economic success.”

Service IQ is the ITO for the Aviation, Tourism, Travel, Museums, Food Services, Cafes Bars & Restaurants, Quick Service Restaurants, Clubs, Accommodation, Retail, and Wholesale sectors.
