From 2023, a new government funding system for work-based training applies. The Unified Funding System has prioritised New Zealand citizens, people holding residence class visas and certain exemptions, to access relevant industry training through ServiceIQ – Te Pūkenga.
Please note: people you employ who are non-domestic learners and ineligible for funding can still sign up to and complete on-job training and receive a New Zealand Qualification. However, we will need to pass on our costs because we can no longer access any government vocational educational funding for them. We will need a copy of their Passport and Visa details when signing into a Training Agreement.
These changes applied from 1 January 2023, so training agreements signed before then will continue to be funded if the trainee remains actively training.
Costs for programmes vary, so please talk to your expert local ServiceIQ Training or Sector Advisor.
