Retail is an exciting career choice with loads of possibilities – from customer experience, tech expertise, merchandising, marketing, running a store, to management at head office.

Noel Leeming – Discovering Passionate Experts is a Gateway programme that gives students a chance to get valuable work experience in retail and help make the move from school into a career.

Students will gain credits that can be used towards a nationally recognised New Zealand Certificate in Retail. They’ll learn important skills in line with industry standards including: effective communication; personal presentation; product knowledge, technology expertise and teamwork.

How it works

The school will arrange a work placement for their student/s at Noel Leeming. The school will purchase the customised ServiceIQ learning resources. The student will be supported by the ServiceIQ’s learning resources and store management to gain an understanding of the world of retail.  

The student will complete the verifications and assessments with support of the workplace. Students’ work will be assessed by a ServiceIQ registered assessor or via an alternative assessor that meets all NZQA requirements.
